Art gallery designed to display 2 large scale works of art by Claes Oldenburg & Coosje van Bruggen: Pool Balls and Bicyclette Ensevelie.
The gallery pays homage to the industrial history of the neighborhood, utilizing a pre-fab metal building system, passive cooling techniques, and a series of sliding overhead doors.
During the day the overhead doors are pulled down allowing only filtered sunlight to reach the sculpture; access is allowed through the main entrance. At night, the doors are raised and the sculpture is lit from behind. The art becomes public, accessible to pedestrians or perhaps the light rail passengers on their way into downtown.
